GORILLA Who Wants To Save The World Anyway? (Viper)

"Who Wants To Save The World Anyway?" is the second single from this Derby band with connections with The Beyond ("a truly great early nineties eclectic rock act", it says here) and Cable, who I’ve seen supporting Theweddingpresent. Despite arriving with music press acclaim trumpeting their "melding of jazz, metal and blues", Gorilla sound to me like any number of minor league indie bands - Done Lying Down or Kong, for example - all big guitars (of a more Metallica-esque nature than is usual, it must be said) and shouty vocals - at least when they’re not sliding down the slippery pole that is yer standard quiet verse/noisy chorus grunge construction. Pass.
