THE DAWN Getting By On The Good Times (One Little Indian)

No biog or even booklet with this, so all I can tell you is that this six-track CD reminded me, after a promising acoustic and steel guitar tussle introduction, of The Black Crowes, Stiltskin and numerous other hoary hairy rockers that you wouldn’t normally associate with the output of the label that signed Bjork. The Dawn also make the trad band format of guitar/bass/drums sound like the most overweight, lumbering, extinction-bound dinosaur on the musical planet, at a time when people like Mogwai make it sound like tomorrow’s noise today. Probably great if you like this sort of thing; unfortunately I don’t, and it isn’t.
