BENTLEY RHYTHM ACE Bentley Rhythm Ace (Skint)

A brief, long-delayed mention for this, because try as I might (and it’s been trying, very trying) I just can’t warm to the Bentleys brand of comedy techno. Perhaps its the way these two former members of Pop Will Eat Itself seem to have no ambition beyond speeding up Chemical Brothers-esque loops and trampling them underfoot with a barrage of allegedly humorous samples and calling them stuff like "Ragtopskodacarchase" or "Return Of The Carbootechnodisco Roadshow". Perhaps it’s the way that they’re operating in a genre that, with, or perhaps despite, all its serious-mindedness, is pretty much beyond satire. Whatever, I tried very hard to like this album, and have so far failed dismally.
